Il s'agit \u00e9galement d'un rappel \u00e0 l'ordre pour lutter contre nos pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n<p>Un pr\u00e9jug\u00e9 est une inclinaison ou un pr\u00e9jug\u00e9 en faveur ou \u00e0 l'encontre d'une personne ou d'un groupe ; et les pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s inconscients sont des sentiments inconscients que nous \u00e9prouvons \u00e0 l'\u00e9gard d'autres personnes - des sentiments instinctifs qui jouent un r\u00f4le important en influen\u00e7ant nos jugements qui ne sont pas \u00e9quilibr\u00e9s ou impartiaux.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dans le secteur de la construction, o\u00f9 les femmes repr\u00e9sentent moins de cinq pour cent de la main-d'\u0153uvre, les pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s peuvent \u00eatre identifi\u00e9s tout au long du parcours d'une personne de m\u00e9tier, depuis le moment o\u00f9 elle est attir\u00e9e par les m\u00e9tiers lors des pratiques de recrutement, en passant par le processus d'admission \u00e0 l'apprentissage, sur le chantier, lorsque des possibilit\u00e9s d'heures suppl\u00e9mentaires se pr\u00e9sentent et lorsque des promotions sont envisag\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n<p>En tant que secteur, nous devons nous pencher sur les pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s profond\u00e9ment ancr\u00e9s dans notre industrie et travailler dur pour les \u00e9liminer.<\/p>\n\n<p>Les gouvernements f\u00e9d\u00e9ral et provinciaux ont pris des mesures initiales. Il existe de nombreuses politiques incitatives pour encourager les employeurs \u00e0 embaucher des femmes dans des m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s ou \u00e0 ajouter des possibilit\u00e9s d'apprentissage.<\/p>\n\n<p>Un excellent exemple est le programme d'incitation f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de 470 millions de dollars pr\u00e9vu dans le budget de 2021, qui fournit des fonds aux employeurs qui embauchent des apprentis de premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e. L'incitatif est doubl\u00e9 si les employeurs embauchent une personne appartenant \u00e0 un groupe d'\u00e9quit\u00e9 qui comprend des femmes, des Canadiens racialis\u00e9s et des personnes handicap\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n<p>Les trois territoires et neuf provinces (et bient\u00f4t, nous l'esp\u00e9rons, l'Ontario) ont adh\u00e9r\u00e9 au syst\u00e8me de garde d'enfants d'Ottawa. Mais l'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des services de garde de qualit\u00e9 demeure un probl\u00e8me pour les femmes et les hommes qui exercent des m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s, car ils doivent avoir des horaires de travail plus souples. C'est pourquoi nous avons organis\u00e9 des groupes de discussion et formul\u00e9 des recommandations \u00e0 l'intention des gouvernements qui mettent en place des services de garde d'enfants, afin qu'ils tiennent compte des personnes qui travaillent en dehors de l'horaire traditionnel de 9 \u00e0 5, car elles ont \u00e9galement besoin d'avoir acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des services de garde de qualit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n<p>Comme un nombre croissant d'entreprises recherchent la diversit\u00e9 des sexes, davantage de femmes poursuivent des carri\u00e8res non conventionnelles, comme les m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u00c0 Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, par exemple, les femmes repr\u00e9sentent 13 % des emplois dans les m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n<p>C'est pourquoi le Syndicats des m\u00e9tiers de la construction du Canada est fier de soutenir le Bureau d'avancement des femmes apprenties (OAWA). L'OAWA offre des services de soutien globaux aux femmes qui cherchent \u00e0 travailler ou qui travaillent d\u00e9j\u00e0 dans les m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n<p>Pour les femmes de m\u00e9tier, des programmes comme Build Together : Les femmes des m\u00e9tiers de la construction ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 un moyen pour les femmes de m\u00e9tier de notre industrie d'aider \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir les pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s existants afin que nous puissions travailler davantage pour les \u00e9liminer. Build Together et notre partenariat avec la Lean In Foundation ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 des possibilit\u00e9s de r\u00e9seautage, de soutien et de mentorat, qui font partie int\u00e9grante de la r\u00e9tention des femmes dans les m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n<p>Ces services de soutien sont une partie importante du travail que nous faisons, mais il y a une autre \u00e9tape qui doit \u00eatre abord\u00e9e. Nous avons besoin d'emplois pour placer dans nos rangs les femmes int\u00e9ress\u00e9es, form\u00e9es et hautement qualifi\u00e9es dans les m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s. Un moyen? Par le biais d'accords de d\u00e9veloppement de la main-d'\u0153uvre ou d'accords sur les avantages pour la communaut\u00e9 (AAC).<\/p>\n\n<p>Les CCAs permettent \u00e0 la valeur d'un projet de s'\u00e9tendre bien au-del\u00e0 de la construction d'infrastructures. Elles cr\u00e9ent des voies d'acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l'apprentissage pour les membres des communaut\u00e9s o\u00f9 l'infrastructure est construite, y compris des possibilit\u00e9s pour les groupes sous-repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s, et renforcent la main-d'\u0153uvre des m\u00e9tiers sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n<p>Pourquoi ne pas rendre obligatoire l'inclusion des ACA pour s'assurer que chaque dollar public d\u00e9pens\u00e9 voit le meilleur retour sur investissement, surtout dans la perspective d'une reprise \u00e9conomique post-pand\u00e9mique?<\/p>\n\n<p>La Journ\u00e9e internationale de la femme devrait nous rappeler \u00e0 tous qu'il y a encore beaucoup de travail \u00e0 faire pour que tous les emplois, tous les chantiers et toutes les industries soient ouverts aux femmes, et que nous avons tous un r\u00f4le \u00e0 jouer pour veiller \u00e0 ce que des mesures de soutien soient en place pour accro\u00eetre le succ\u00e8s des femmes dans l'industrie de la construction.
