Keystone XL will also commit to achieving net-zero emissions across the pipeline\u2019s operations when placed into service in 2023. This is expected to eliminate more than three million tons of CO2 equivalent emitted every year in GHG emissions \u2013 the equivalent of approximately 650,000 cars taken off the road.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cAt a time of economic uncertainty, this will create thousands of jobs on both sides of the border, creating opportunities for underrepresented groups, including Indigenous peoples, all along the KXL route,\u201d said CBTU Executive Director Sean Strickland. \u201cAt the Building Trades, we continue to invest in training for our members to work on new forms of renewable technologies that create jobs while continuing to meet our energy needs. Our brothers and sisters in Alberta, Saskatchewan and throughout the US where KXL passes through will see positive benefits from this project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>The project will be constructed under a Project Labor Agreement, ensuring 100 percent of construction is done through union labor.
